Your first visit will begin by completing a medical history. This medical history will allow us to follow up with your doctor if certain medical conditions may interfere with safe dental treatement.

If you are due for x-rays, a series of x-rays will be taken to diagnose any existing dental conditions.  If you are transferring from another office and have recent x-rays, we will obtain them before your appointment.  Dr. Shinebarger will then use these x-rays during your comprehensive exam.  This exam will screen you for decay, bone loss, orthodontic conditions, oral cancer, etc. If he determines that further treatment is necessary, he will discuss your options and propose a treatment plan. If you have insurance, our office will send a pre-treatment estimate to your insurance carrier in order to determine your expected out of pocket expense.

Your follow up appointment will be scheduled with either Heather or Gail, our hygienists. Your cleaning will include an individualized plan to assist you in keeping your mouth healthy between visits.

All Other Insurance
We are considered a non-participating provider for most insurances.  As a courtesy, we will file a claim on your behalf.  Many insurance companies, whether the dentist is in-network or out-of-network, will send the claim directly to the dentist.  This means that we estimate coverage and you are expected to make a copay on your date of service for anything insurance is not expected to cover.
Insurance Not Accepted
Medicaid plans such as Fidelis are not accepted.  Medicaid dicates that you must go to an in-network provider.
